Finite element simulation of real cavity closure in cast Ti6Al4V alloy during hot isostatic pressing

The healing behavior of shrinkage cavity inside the cast Ti6Al4V alloy during hot isostatic pressing (HIP) was investigated experimentally by interrupted tests. X-ray micro computed tomography used to record morphology changes before and after pressing. two-dimensional geometry obtained microCT scan in simulation study evolution real Shrinkage cavities, porosity small gas pores can be effectively eliminated under proper HIP conditions. results agrees well with experimental results. This reveals that plastic deformation, creep diffusion are main mechanisms closure In addition, simplified elliptical aspect ratios at different positions were replace further factors affecting position dimples simulation. It is found mainly depends on ratio pore distance between surface external geometric model.
